Things Window Managers do not do

Window managers do not provide applications with a common look and feel. This leaves applications to decide their own user interface. There are applications as diverse as the terminal window ( xterm) and the WWW browser Netscape.

Window managers do not control applications. A window manager cannot directly kill off a rogue application, as this is a function of the operating system. The current window selected, does not determine which program is running.
